Seasoned nominees jostle with hopeful rookies on the Academy vote campaign trail

A star-studded line-up of nominees gathered at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles on Monday for the annual Oscars luncheon and “class photo”.
The event featured both seasoned Academy Award nominees and first-time hopefuls, as attendees were granted the opportunity to pose for photographs and received advice on delivering acceptance speeches.

Hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the luncheon is seen as an opportunity for nominees to raise their profile as they campaign for Academy members’ votes.
Not all this year’s nominees are major A-listers and some lesser-known names have been catapulted into the spotlight after important nominations.

Box office sensations Barbie and Oppenheimer were both well-represented at the occasion, alongside biographical drama Maestro and comedy film American Fiction – all of which have been nominated for Best Picture.
The 96th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on on Sunday 10 March at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
